that's about it. :)

Heys! :D Your junior IT here.
We won't have much scout meetings now ): Exams, EXAMS!
So, :D time for some knotting!
The reef knot;
The Square, or Reef, Knot joins equal sized ropes. Never use it for human or other critical loads - it may spill into two half hitches and then slip. It is frequently tied wrongly as a "Granny Knot."

Sheetbend;

The Sheet Bend joins two ropes of unequal size but also works well if the ropes are of the same size. It has to be tied with both ends loose in your hands with no load on the ropes.
Bowline:The Bowline makes a secure loop in the end of a piece of rope. It can be used to secure a mooring line to a ring or post on a dock. When there is no strain it can easily be undone.

Clove Hitch;
The Clove Hitch, two turns stacked on each other, is widely known. primarily because it so easy to tie. It can be used to attach a rope but must be used with caution because it can jam or slip.
Round Turn and Two Half Hitches;
An excellent knot for securing a rope to a post or ring. The initial turns take the load, e.g., of a mooring line during docking. While one hand holds the strain, the knot is then tied with the other.

Till next time :D Bye!

Yuk Chai SteamBoat Dinner

Hello Juniors, Your JTL here.
As a courtesy for helping them set up the Dunkin booth and the bridge during the carnival, Yuk Chai repaid us with a delightful steamboat dinner that was funded by the money that they collected on that day. We were so full after that dinner. It was a self-service SteamBoat dinner which means we can take however much we want! We ended up with i think 13 dishes of steam boat. See what do we get when we do service? This only concludes to one thing, GO FOR MORE SERVICE!. Whenever you are free, just look for me or chuo shuan and ask us if got any up-coming service.

Yuk Chai service 17 july

Hello =D Justin here, We had service in yuk chai during 17 July. We built a Dunkin booth and a bridge. Our Dunkin Booth caught most of the attention. There were so many people lining up just to throw a ball at a stick. You don't know whats a Dunkin booth? It consist of a target,tank of water, and a platform. The person will sit on the platform, when the target in this case a bakau wood is struck by a ball, the platform releases causing whoever sitting on it to fall in to the tank!

Campfire :D

Greetings, Justin here.We just had our joined campfire with 51 Petaling, Puay Chai last Saturday ( 21st August). It has been a loooong time since we last organize a campfire. The truth is, organizing a campfire is difficult. We have to get full cooperation and determination from each of every scout. Whats even more challenging is having a joined campfire. It is merely impossible only a hand full of schools done it.

Some of our hard working scouts stayed over on Friday night just to ensure the success of the campfire.I apologize the lack of pictures, i'll try to find more.

Monday, August 23, 2010

HELLO :).
Our campfire just ended on the 21st.
i'll blog as soon as Sue May posts the pictures :)
till then.

oh wait. before that.

Did you know?

A fly that appears to have drowned can be revived with the use of everyday table salt.

Flies breathe through a series of tubes on their body called spiracles. When a fly is in water for an extended period of time, these tubes are blocked and it loses consciousness as part of a natural defense mechanism.

Like many insects, flies can survive without oxygen for an extended period of time. The salt draws water out of the spiracles, and if the fly has not actually drowned it will be able to fly off, good as new!

michelle

:D helloes! yes, its after the AGM meeting, and yeahh, things changed (:
So anyways, the juniors had a 6km hike! :D Broken up into 3 patrols.
Justin's ; and if im not mistaken Charmaine's ; Raymond .

These are the things we did (: -different patrols, different tasks:D-
From the school gate we walked ALLLL THE WAYYY to PUAY CHAI! it was pretty fun (: we had to draw the guard's face , photo, autograph and NAME from the guard! THE GUARD BECAME FAMOUS AFTER THAT. Ehemm, well i dont know bout that.. just trying to make the blog interesting. ;P

Thenn, from Puay Chai, we walked to DIGITAL MALL. it was hot, it was frustrating, IT WAS AWESOME! at digital mall, we had to go search around for the cheapest 8GB pendrive. Answer? KINGSTON. yes, we search the whole building! While we were searching, we also drew the LAYOUT of the first floor. (:

my patrol stopped by at McD for 45 minutes which made us get 2nd place from us leading. But i guess the food was DELISH for hungry people who never ate any breakfast nor lunch. :\

Lastly, we walked through the highway over the over head bridge , took a picture with the Dutch Lady cows! <3>

Justin:

Later that evening, we went to the eagle troop's camp fire in St. John Institute. It was great! Fortunately for everyone, it didn't rain! Their fire-lighting set up was just COOL! It wasn't really what i expected. It was more like a campfire version 2.0.. with the open dance floor type of band...

We should also have our own personal name car/slip next time

real bombs!

WHAT IS THAT?! O: creepy crawlies . (: imagine em under your bed!

A really cool urban designed scarf
their fire lighting setup
